NOTABLE DANCE

WOODFORD AND WANGANUI

MANY BEAUTIFUL FROCKS

Large bowls "of really beautifully arranged flowers—white and yellow narcissi, marigolds, and'pussy willow —and a shield in each ballrboom bearing the crests of the Woodford House Girls' School and of the Wanganui Collegiate School, made charming individual touches which added to the' attractiveness of the Mayf air Cabaret ballrooms, last night, when the Wellington branches of the Old Girls' and Old Boys' Associations of both schools held a delightful dance, there.

Many people gave diriner and sherry parties beforehand, and the terrific storm with its thunder and. lightning and torrential downpours of rain did net affect the attendance in the least. A large, number of visitors from the Wairarapa and other places were present, and the frocks -worn were very beautiful. A number had slight trains. One charming frock in lime green angel skin lace had frills of faille of exactly the same shade following the lines of the lower part of the skirt, and bordering the train. Halo wreaths of real flowers were worn by several smart attractive girls. .. . , ■■':.

The .supper was entirely homemade and delicious. There were no sweets, but every kind of savoury instead —prunes in bacon, savoury mixture in celery boats, sandwiches with unusual fillings, etc., and excellent • coffee. • The two long supper tables, set' at right angles, were decorated with- Iceland 'poppies- and ■birch; and there were also vases filled with .snowdrops about the room. Cool drinks were served in the other supper room.
