MOTOR ACCIDENT CLAIM
Damages amounting to £225 were awarded by a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday in favour of William Seddon, who claimed £500 from Frank McMorran, as a result of the death of his son, Ronald Thomas Seddon, aged 18, who was fatally injured while riding on the pillion of a motor-cycle which collided with a car driven by McMorran near Paraparaumu. The jury, which- retired at 3 p.m., brought in a majority verdict for, the plaintiff at 8.15 p.m. When the jury returned Mr. W. Perry, who appeared for the defendant, moved for a non-suit pursuant to leave reserved by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) yesterday. As an alternative, he said, he proposed to move for judgment, or a new trial. The case was stood over sine die for further argument.
Mr. P. J. O'Regan appeared for the plaintiff.
