JUNIOR NAVY LEAGUE

ANNUAL MEETING HELD

The committee elected for the year by the Junior Branch of the Navy League was as follows:—President, Miss Edwin; lion, secretary, Miss M. Brien; assistant secretary, Miss I. Spidy; committee, Misses V. Bevan, N. Cramond, A. Davis/M. Grose, N. Horton, V. Kendall, F. Meadows, B. Menard, E. McCarthy, J. Nathan, N. Olphert, S. Paul, C. Phillips, B. Taylor, R. Thomson, I. Turner, and M. Willcock's (deputy chairman).

The annual report showed a good record of work for the year. The men of the Italian and Australian Squadrons had been entertained at the Town Hall, and assistance was given with the dances for officers. Officers and cadets of s.s. Cornwall and Durham had been entertained, and on Nelson Day, in conjunction with the senior branch, the secretary had visited some schools and had spoken at Marsden Junior.

A party had been given at Mowai Home, showing the interest taken by the Navy League supporters in the invalid soldiers. An annual "Sunday tea" was arranged to take place at the Missions to Seamen, and a play reading was presented at the Drama Festival. The monthly readings at Miss Edwin's home were very popular and much appreciated. Sincere regret at the passing away of Mrs. James Findlay was expressed, as her interest in the Junior Branch and assistance in its work was much appreciated. Mrs. Larnach was heartily congratulated on receiving the Special Service Decoration from the Navy League in Great Britain.

Substantial help was given at the League "street day," as 28 girls assisted under direction of Miss Grose and Miss C. Phillips. They added the satisfactory sum of £63 to the total. Some members also assisted at other stands than the Junior one.

The report was adopted as being most satisfactory.
