GAY SCENE

DANCE AT KARORI

The Karori Younger Circle decorated the Parish Hall most delightfully for their first dance, which they held last night, and was a great success. Red, yellow, and dark blue streamers were draped around the walls. The windows, incidentally the only reminder of the miserable night outside, were blocked out by clusters of greenery decorated with pink and red roses. The stage, where Ihe orchestra played, was also decorated with greenery and roses, and lovely fern fronds covered the walls. Jardinieres on the stage were filled with masses of red roses. The hall was made pleasantly warm by the radiators which were placed at intervals all around.

An excellent buffet supper was served in a charmingly decorated room. The tables were covered with a lattice design of dark green, and vases of pink and red camellias. Altogether it was a particularly pleasant dance, enjoyed by everyone present.

The committee comprised Miss Lorna Baxter (who wore magnolia satin), Miss Zena Holden (wearing' mandarin silk net over taffeta), Miss Lola Kelly (in plaid taffeta), Mr. John Harvey, Mr. C. Cooper, and Mr. D. Cooper. Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. C. Holden, and Mrs. Stevens were the supper committee.
