SEAMEN ENTERTAINED
CATHOLIC INSTITUTE
One of the biggest and brightest social evenings to date, organised by the Ladies'■ Auxiliary of the Seamen's .Committee,, with the co-operation of the Children of Mary from the various Sodalities, was held' recently at the A.M.I.C. rooms, 22. .Vivian Street, to entertain the men of the Hertford and Cambridge. The Rev. Father Fletcher was present. • . The evening passed all too quickly with a- variety of. items interspersed with dancing. Miss Kathleen' Peters sang her well-chosen songs to an appreciative audience, and, in.company with Miss Mary Peters and Mr. Edward Harvey,: gave.-. further pleasure in a very well-balanced''trio.. '• Miss Monica Bell created a very.happy.\atmosphere with her humorous7' 'recitations, and Misses; Pat Mean, land Betty Painter were equally'popular in 'their clever tap dancing, i Mr. Pat Bell made an exceptionally capable pianist, in addition to providing music of all ages for the community singing. Messrs. O'Dell and Burns,-both, of .the, Hertford, delighted all present with their songs; the latter also; gave an .exhibition of step dancing, which Was enthusiastically applauded. Mri Loader, of the Cambridge, played a mouth-organ solo.
The supper' committee provided a bountiful supper, and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a very happy entertainment to a close.
