MILK BELOW STANDARD
A charge of a breach of the Food and Drugs Act was made against Dorothy Bolton before Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Lower Hutt Court today. Mr. J. S. Reid entered a plea of guilty on behalf of the defendant.
Charles Cunningham, a carrier, employed by the Wellington Dairy Farmers' Association, said that he delivered the milk from which a sample was taken to Mrs. Bolton, and as far as he know it was all right. He took round the milk in 10-gallon cans, and poured 2£- gallons into Mrs. Bolton's can.
The defendant stated • that she had only one quart before the borough inspector (Mr. J. Fletcher) entered the shop. (The milk was agitated before being sold. The Magistrate said that from the evidence he was satisfied that the fault was not at the defendant's door, and she had sold the milk as she had received it. She had sold only a small quantity. The case did not call for a heavy penalty, and a fine of £1 would be imposed.
