RENEWED FIGHTING
BELFAST -DISORDERS | DEMONSTRATION IN LIMERICK BELFAST, July 22. Edward Scarlett was shot dead dup< ing a renewal of fighting in Newtonards Road. Apparently he was thai victim of a sniper concealed in a gateway. Several buildings were set on fire at Clones, on the Free State border. The house of William Meighan, a member of the British Legion, was attacked; and windows were smashed. At Limerick a crowd, in the course! of an anti-Protestant demonstration, stoned six shops and two clergymen's houses and smashed the windows of a church, a Masonic hall, and the Young Men's Christian Association's building before police dispersed them. Catholic priests condemned the outrage^
