SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
An anticyclone has continued to cover the Dominion, but with decreasing Intensity,! and consequently fair to fine weather has . prevailed in most districts. A depression, Jiowever, passing to the north ,of New Zealand, was responsible for strong' southerly winds yesterday at places about and north of T Cook Strait and for scattered rain in the northern and east coast districts of the North Island. Sineo last night rain has also been reported in the Foveaux Strait area, where a slight low pressure wave passed in the night. Strong south-east winds were blowing this morning in the far north and strong westerlies in the far south. Elsewhere, however, winds were mainly light in force and variable in direction. Sharp frosts occurred during the night, especially' in the South Island.
