After three days of solid scoring the cricket match between the touring South African team and Nottinghamshire at Nottingham resulted in a draw. South Africa's innings closed today at 512 and Nottinghamshire, in their second innings, equalled their first innings score (312) for the loss of nine wickets. Altogether 1136 runs were scored although both sides had attacking strength above the average. When play was resumed this morning South Africa had 496 runs on the board for the loss of geven wickets but the innings was soon brought to a close. Wade added only a single to his overnight score of 150 and, with Balaskas unable to bat, there remained only one other wicket to fall. Wade batted four hours and did not make a bad stroke. He hit twentyone boundaries, and 330 runs were scored while he was at the wickets. Nottinghamshire, who wera1 200 runs behind, lost five wickets for 128 but Heane and Gunn then became associated in a partnership which added 135 for the sixth wicket. , Heane was dismissed when his score was 60 but Gunn was unbeaten at stumps with an even century.
