CONFECTIONERY ALIGHT

. Sugar, starch, and a wide assortment of sweets on wooden trays blazed vigorously in a ftre in a,, two-storey wooden confectionery factory in Mornington last night.

At 10.17 p.m. the Fire Brigade received the alarm, and machines from Constable Street and Brooklyn, responded to it. On arrival the firemen found that the building, which is at the rear of a dwelling'at 82 Farnham Street, was so situated that it felt the full force of,the southerly wind, and that the flames had a strong hold. T*/o deliveries were run out, and in a short time the fire was suppressed, but not without considerable damage ■, being done to the building and its contents. It is owned by Mr. J. J. Turnbull, and occupied by his son, Mr. R. J. Turnbull.

The cause of the outbreak has not been ascertained
