AUSTRALIAN RETURNS
HEAVY REDUCTION
(By Telegraph—Press Asen.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, July 9. Wool sold in Australia in the "wool year" ended June 30 totalled 2,992,267 bales, and realised £37,927,407. The quantity represented an increase of 468,591 bales, compared with the previous season, but the income represented a reduction of £13,171,308. Greasy merino averaged 9.75 d per lb in the past season, compared with 15.84 din 1933-34. The returns for eleven months ended May 31 for the past two seasons were as follows: — 1933-34. 1934-35. Receipts 2,664,981 2,822,989 Sold 2,463,472 2,608,950 Shipped ... 24,191 30,007 In store (May 31) 177,318 184,032 "The inhabitants of this country are gradually becoming more 'insuranceminded,' and it is all to the good that this should be so," said the chairman (Mr. Walter H. Brown), presiding at the annual meeting of the London and Manchester Assurance Company.
