Weddel and Co., writing London, June 6, reported:—"Australian hides still very firm with moderate business passing. Interest for New Zealands is in freezer cows. We have heard that business has been done at 4Jd for 30/50's, but believe this is an isolated case; most shippers are holding for 4 7-Bd. During the past week we have been able to sell Westfield cow hides at 5d Trading in leather is still satisfactory, and we are hoping that this recent setback in hides is not going to have any bad effect, as on all sides we are informed that the leather trade is still on the way to a more .satisfactory position."
