A NEW DESTROYER.—- H.M.S. Esk, a new destroyer recently added to the Royal Navy.- On November 9 last year, Sir James Grose, on behalf of New Zealand branches of the. Navy League, presented to the captain of the destroyer a bronze commemoration plate, mounted on mottled kauri, in memory of an older H.M.S.tEsk, the crew of which took part in the Maori War, 1861-63. The new destroyer, during her trials, travelled at a speed of 36% knots.
