MARLBOROUGH'S HOPE
"RESURRECTION MEETING"
Confirmation of the statement published last week that the Marlborougi Racing Club, despite the recent sale of its racecourse, would be continuing a.s a racing body and would still take its four usual dates next season is supplied in a letter from the club's secretary ■(Mr. E. J. Harvey). Mr. Harvey writes:—
"Although our racecourse has beea sold to a private purchaser, we are not down and, out yet and are still hopeful of being able to continue to carry on racipg in Marlborough for many years. Under conditions as they were, the proposition was too big a one for us to continue with, and we had no option but to let the mortgagees take the action they did. - "Negotiations are at present well in train for the lease of the course for racing purposes from the purchasers on terms satisfactory to both parties, and if this comes about we will be on a much better footing. In face of all our troubles, my committee I think will endeavour to stage a 'Resurrection Meeting' in September, and I feel sure that we will receive the sympathetic support of owners and trainers."
