LOWER HUTT ESTIMATES

APPROVED BY COUNCIL

■ The Lower . Hutt Borougn Council last evening adopted its estimates for the year 1934-35 and struck its rates which, as already stated in "The Post," will be the same as last year.

Councillor P. Dowse opposed the adoption of the estimates, on the grounds that employees should have their wages raised before the council spent £300 on the band; that the estimate for reinforcing the fire station was too high; that a truck should not be purchased for the park and reserves, and that two of the higher officials should not have received increments to their salaries, '

The motion was seconded by Councillor W. A. F. Hall, and was lost on the voices.
