'■ Mrs. Clift presided at the annual meeting of the Brooklyn branch of the British and' Foreign ;, Bible Society, which was held at her residence. Though boisterous wintry weather prevailed there was an.excellent attendance. The following officers were elected:—-President, ' Mrs. Clift (to whom a cordial tribute was paid for 14 years of service); secretary, Mrs. H. A. Webster; collectors,'.Mesdames Benson, Clift, Donovan, Look, Gittings, Illingworth, MacKie, Philpott, H. A. Webster, Norton, Alexander, Edridge, Miller, Misses Crabtree, X, Kershaw, and Robinson. The organising, secretary congratulated the members upon the fine result of lat year's work and heartily welcomed the two hew members Mrs. Hercus and Miss McMillan. She spoke especially upon the translational section of the world-wide work mentioning that 14 languages had been added to the list last year. This according to the latest reports from London has been only once surpassed and twice equalled. Keen interest was expressed, and it was decided to .commence the annual effort at once and have all results in by the middle of August. The president entertained all to afternoon tea. During this the secretary gave interesting information regarding her recent visit to Australia. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Clift for her hospitality.
