RUGBY LEAGUE

DENIAL OF INTERFERENCE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

An emphatic denial that the Rugby League interests in New Zealand had approached Rugby Union players with monetary offers to try to induce them to join the code was given at a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby League last evening. It was also denied' that a majority of the Rugby Union players who had come over were only of moderate playing standard. The chairman, Mr. W. S. E. Moyle, said that the New Zealand Council had not approached any Rugby Union players. Mr. H. G. Miller, the visiting secretary of the Australian League Board of Control, had had no authority to do so. As it was propaganda against the League code when it was reported that Nepia had been offered £200 to play League he was satisfied that the latest report was a case of more propaganda.
