STILL NO GLUE
THE KAEAMTJ TRAGEDY
PAINSTAKING INQUIRIES
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
HASTINGS, This Day.
The mystery of the.alleged murder of Joan Rose Rattray is apparently no nearer solution than it was last week. This morning the police stated that the work of taking statements and sifting the information contained therein was still being; pursued. Fifty- or sixty residents in various parts of the • district had-made statements. J .
Unless some unexpected clue' presents itself-a solution of the. crime will be reached, if it be reached at all, only by a painstaking analysis of the numerous statements made to., the police. Several persons have been interviewed in the belief that they might have had a connection with the alleged crime, but there has been no result. , .
The police are far from giving up hope that .they will eventually discover a clue from which to carry the investigations to a satisfactory end.
