United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July 6, 1.15 p.m,) LONDON, July 5. 'South Africa defeated Somerset by 51 runs when the cricket match was completed at Bath today. The tourists made 284 in their second innings and dismissed Somerset the second time for 188.
Somerset went for the runs in an effort to win ■ and at the tea interval needed to score 92 in 85 minutes. However, the batsmen who made an effort to force the pace succumbed to Mitchell's spin.
