THE PORT OF FOXTON
(Special to. ■the "Evening Post."). PALMERSTON N., This Day. Soundings taken in the Manawatu River below the Foxton Wharf reveal that the channel has silted up to,.an alarming degree as a result of the recent floods. The depth of -w&ter ,at neap tides ,is not more than 5 feet, which will effectively prevent vessels from proceeding up the.river to-the wharf. The Harbour Board; will immediately drag the river bottom at the point affected. This roe thod.\, of scouring out a fairway lias been adopted previously with a good .deal of success. . ~.
