ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE MATCH
AGAINST CANTERBURY
To return the visit made by the Canterbury eleven early this season, a Wellington representative team is to play at Christchurch on July 27. The team, which will not necessarily be the same as that which travelled to Auckland recently, is to be chosen by the sole selector, Mr. G. F. Aers, early next week.
Wellington's last match against Canterbury was played on the Basin Reserve, on April 20, and resulted in a well-deserved but narrow win' for Wellington by 4 goals to 2.
The second half of the season promises to cause as much trouble because of too many fixtures as former years have done. Providing there were no drawn games in the two semi-finals played for the Chatham Cup this afternoon, the local final will be fought out on July 27, and the New Zealand final is set down for August 24. The Ladies' Hockey Association, is using one ground at the Basin Reserve on August 10, and club fixtures for the championship and Auld Memorial Cup will fill in the intervening Saturdays.
If Auckland wish to play here for the Campbell Rose Bowl (and it is the earnest wish of Wellington supporters that they do), the-game will have to take place in September.
Both Gisborne and Wanganui are anxious for visits by Wellington teams, the former presumably wanting a first B division team, and the latter have asked for a team of younger first A division players. Because of the alt ready crowded fixture list it is unlikely that these two requests can be acceded to.
