INDIA V. CANTERURY
The president jof the Canterbury Hockey Association. (Mr. L. F. Ward) writes to "The Post" stating that the reference in the hockey notes of June 22 to the "vigorous and wild play" of Canterbury againlst the Indian team on June 3 "is a dirq'ct slur on the Canterbury team, wham the Indians commended for the» very fine game they played. It would seem, I am sorry to say,, that the wiater of those notes was not fully conversant with facts," Mr. Ward continued "To support what I say, I would respectfully draw your attention to the Christchurch 'Press' on June 4, and als'i a leading article which the Christchurch 'Sun' saw fit to publish on June |4. These two papers could not speak too highly of the game from ev«ery point of view; and the Indians themselves declared it to be the best game they had played in New Zealand, j I regret having to write you on this matter, but there was nothing in the game to justify the comments which jyour writer has made."
