LODGE MEETINGS
ORDER OF DRUIDS,
Pride of Brooklyn Lodge.—A.D. Bro. James presided over a good attendance. The Bards reported on sick members and sick pay was passed accordingly. Bro. Giddens reported on visiting Island Bay and Excelsior Lodges, where he witnessed contests for the Mooney Shield. . Bro. Mead reported* on attending the annual dance held by members of Pacific Lodge. The business of the lodge concluded an enjoyable dance -was held. GRAND UNITED ODDFELLOWS. Newtown Alpha Branch.—The N.G., Bro. A. Chambers, presided over a well-attended meeting, Bro. B. Piper, P.N.G., supervising. The District Master, Bro. R. A. Couper, supported by the D.D.M., Bro. F. Harnor, the district secretary, Bro. B. Ryde, and the district treasurer, Sis. J. Ryde, made official visits. The District Master gave a detailed account of the proposed hospital scheme. The Deputy District Master installed Bro. D. Guilfoyle as R.S.N.G. One member was reported on the sick list and sick allowance was passed accordingly. This meeting being, the thirteenth anniversary of the lodge a 1 birthday cake was presented by Sister Wilson. Miramar Branch.—Bro. Brown, N.G., presided over the quarterly meeting, which was well attended. The lodge was in mourning and the members stood in silence with reversed regalia as a ; (mark of respect to the late Bro. C. F.Butler, who.died recently. One candidate was initiated and one proposed for memberschip. The District Secretary, Bro. •B. Ryde, supported by Sister J. Ryde, District Treasurer, and Bro. J. Murphy, District Trustee, visited the lodge officially and addressed the meeting on the proposed hospital association and other matters. Bro; A. Cheverall was installed in the Vice-Grand's chair. Visitors were Sisters Murphy and Harnor, sen., Loyal Onslow Branch. —Bro. L. Lindsay, N.G., presided over a good attendance, Bro. T. Laurenson, P.N.G., supervising. .One member declared off the sick list. Bro. Glen reported on an official visit paid by members to Arahina branch, where they were entertained *at a card evening. Invitations were received from Loyal Central Branch to attend its birthday celebrations and from, the District Council to attend the annual ball. A table tennis tournament was played after business had been disposed'of. , Arahina Branch.—Bro. Johnson presided and'Bro. Ridding, P.N.G., supervised. One candidate was initiated and ; one. proposed for membership. The District Council officers, under the District Master, Bro. R. A. Couper, attended and gave addresses on various matters including the proposed hospital association. h MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS. Loyal Combination Lodge (Johnsonville) .—Sister L. Gandy presided over a fair attendance. The question of raising funds for the lodge's jubilee celebrations in 1936 was discussed. Bro. H. Wallis, of Te Awamutu, was welcomed. Sick visitors' reports were received. Reference was made to the successful smoke concert held by Antipodean Lodge in honour of Bro. A.' C Blair, who has recently been appointed Grand Master of the New Zealand Branch of Manchester Unity. Oddfellows. At the conclusion of lodge business members enjoyed games of indoor bowls. ' , Loyal Rose of the Valley Lodge (Lower Hutt).—Bro. E. S. Hewer, Noble Grand, presided over a good attendance. Members stood in silence as a mark-of respect to the late Bro. H. C.; Clark. "sros. Norris and Bird reported on the annual meeting of the Wellington District Hospital Association. A report dealing with the proposed juvenile lodge was adopted and it was decided to form such a lodge, the opening night to be at an early date, when Bro. B. J. Seddon will be in charge. .One new member was initiated. Dancing terminated the evening. Loyal Britannia Lodge.—Bro. W. R. Treadwell presided over a fair attendance. Three new members were initiated. Bro. R. Wickens reported on a function organised by Antipodean Lodge in honour of Bro. A. C. Blair on his attainment of the position of Grand Master of New Zealand. At the conclusion of business members enjoyed games. 1.0.0. F., N.Z. Ngati-Awa! Lodge.—Bro. A. A. Cohen presided over a fairly good attendance. Bros. C. Greager and L. RobertsonTaylor reported on a visit to Muritai Lodge, where they extended and received fraternal greetings. At the conclusion "of the meeting brothers were entertained at games. . >
