D.I.C. CONCERT PARTY

On Tuesday evening the D.I.C. concert party visited the Mount Crawford Gaol and entertained the inmates with a variety programme, at the conclusion of which the superintendent (Mr. J. Down), speaking on behalf of the men, expressed gratitude and appreciation for the programme submitted, adding that a return visit would be eagerly looked for by the men and staff alike. Included among the items presented were vocal solos by Misses V Berry, D. Cree, R. Doherty. and Mr. J Osborne, with a vocal duet by Misses R. Doherty and M. King. Mr. Arthur Pennington , supplied two humorous numbers in his inimitable style, and Miss K. Hakaraia rendered, in costume, an'item of Maori melodies and dances. Selections on the . harp b" Miss Lalitte Lees and a pianoforte solo by Miss Joyce Griffiths, together with an excellent item by an instrumental trio comprising harp (Miss Lees), 'cello (Mr. S. Pennington), and violin (Mr. F. Pennington). were also included in what was acknowledged to be a bright, . well-balanced- programme. ______
