MELBOURNE'S MILK
NEW ZONE SYSTEM
STEP TOWARDS LOWER PRICE
(Received July 1, 2.15 p.m.)
MELBOURNE, This Day.
The first step towards introducing a zone system in the distribution of milk in order to cheapen the price to consumers was taken on Saturday, when the licences of 31 metropolitan milk venders were cancelled. Approximately £12,000 compensation will be paid to the licensees. ;
Every effort will be made to eliminate unnecessary competition, and adequate precautions are being taken to prevent the milk.business getting -into the hands of a monopoly.
