THE ANNUAL MEETING
(Special to the "EVebino Post.") ' ■• • NELSON, June 27. At the' annual meeting of the Nelson College Old Boys' Association the retiring president,. Mr. W., Carrol Harley, said the insurance endowment scheme had no % t so far taken on as well as had been 'anticipated. The executive ( realised that' at the present time men were' reluctant ; \6 commit themselves lor the future; but with improving iconditions he. ; hoped .ixjany more old boys would join 'the;scheme. The suggestion - frofav.. one; • branch; for the drawing up of a building' programme for. each five years; -from the'insurance fund, could not be carried ;«ut as the association.did not'know;how much it was to receive. •Continuing, Mr. Harley said? that' .While. all .would appreciate the valiant work done by the present College Council of Governors, the association desired to have more old boy governors, also more old boys on the college staff. A letter was received from the principal, Mr. H. V. Searle, drawing attention to the fact that the cricket and Rugby honours boards went back only to 1904, and a request was made to the association to assist in making the records complete. It was pointed out that the first intercchool Rugby match was played between Nelson and Wellington Colleges-in 1876. The executive is to deal with the matter.
