PAEKAKARIKI CLUB
The second annual report of the Paekakariki Bowling Club shows the club to be in a satisfactory position. The membership, states the report, has steadily increased, there now being 36 members and 2 associate members.
Congratulations are extended to H. Lynch, a first-year player, on his winning the singles championship which carries with it the coveted Dewar trophy. The Norwood Feathers are at present held by R. Smith and L. H. Ruddy. The club entered two teams in the country pennant competition and, although unsuccessful, made a creditable showing for a second-year club. During the season a rink tournament was arranged by the Porirua Club to decide the initial holders of a handsome challenge cup ..donated by Mr. Mexted, of Porirua. Otaki, Paraparaumu, Plimmertori, Porirua, and the Paekakariki Clubs competed, and after many keenly-contested games Plimmerton proved the winners. Later Paekakariki were successful in winning the cup, and in March a challenge was accepted from the Otaki Club, who proved too strong. '■ Thanks are expressed to Mr. A. G. Saunders and Captain Proctor for the donation of trophies. < An independent water service is now available for the green, and this should assist matters considerably during the dry" periods. The green has been topdressed and should be in first-class order for next season. ■, ,- . ' A- tribute is paid to the work of the selector, Mr. J. Firth, and to the ladies who assisted in the social aspect of the club. ' .:• ■
