"TOOK LEAVE OF SENSES"

"He suffers from a war disability and any drink at all upsets him. He seems to have taken leave of his senses altogether," said Sub-Inspector C. E. Roach in the Magistrate's Court yesterday concerning Richard Harvey, aged 48, a seaman, who pleaded guilty to being drunk in Willis Street, to using obscene language in Palmer Street, and to damaging cell equipment valued at 18s 3d, the property of the New Zealand Government.. It was stated on Harvey's behalf that he was a sick man and had acted under severe mental strain. He was r.onvicte,* and discharged for drunkenness, ordered to come up for sentence if called; upon within <twelve months on the obscene language charge, and ordered to make good the damage and pay costs on the last charge, default of payment being fixed by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., at seven days' imprisonment with hard labour. He is to take out a prohibition order.
