(Original.)
.Far away in a forest in.Fairyland, preparations were being made for the , great occasion of Fairiel's birthday.. Away in one corner sat Dawn, a' pretty fairy who had fair hair, rosy cheeks, and deep blue eyes. Her frock\%i6s made of a delicate spider's web, : $&' , were all the fairies' frocks. She was writing out the invitations for the guests. Just as she was doing bnfe for Prince Charming, a mischievous elf peeped round a blade of grass and . made a funny face at poor • Dawn, which startled her so much that in her fright she pushed the ink bottle and spilled the ink all oyer herself. 5 "I'm so sorry, Dawn," the elf said, "I i did not mean to spoil your pretty dress." , \, . 3 "I don't mind really," she bravely l said, although she was just about ready to cry, because now that her 1 dress was spoiled she could not go to the big party. "To compromise, Dawn, I shall tell you a great big secret." With this he '■ put her ear close to his mouth, and whispered. A smile gradually spread across her mouth, and by the time he ■ had finished she was jumping for joy. At last the great evening came. As '■ the sun slowly sank behind the hills, ■ more and more fairies gathered in the , fairy ring. Sharply on twelve-Fairiel arrived with yes it was Dawn,. looking more beautiful than anyone else there except Fairiel herself. There were gasps of surprise as she walked ■ sedately in beside Fairiel, wearing a ! pretty daisy skirt and a leaf for a i bodice. Prince, Charming, fell. jn ; .love with ' her immediately, and they were both , married. But who do you think came to live with them? Why the mischievous elf. And that is how flower frocks were invented in Fairyland LOYAL GUIDE. (13) ' | Kilbirnic.
