VARIOUS EVENTS
The Orphan Club spent an enjoyable evening at the Indoor Bowling Green. Many of the members were novices at the game, but soon got into ' their stride. Messrs, Herron and Begg made the necessary arrangements for the evening. " , •■ ' ■ ■ The iriter-club.match between the Victoria and Hataitai Bowling Clubs was played last week, six rinks representing each club. Hataitai won five of the six games. The results were (Hataitai players mentioned first):— Dimock, Witcombe, Taylor, MeGune (s), 21; Kirk, A. Wallis, Yardley, Watts (s); 20.; Moult, Allen, Hodgers, Stonebanks'- (s), 21; Dawson, Bbyes, Combs, Ingrain (s),- 13. Carswell, Chisholm, Fletcher, Woolley (s), 15J Murphy, Hunt,' Roberts, Tucker (s), 14. Newton,' Duncan, McKay, Halliday' (s)', 20; Scannell, Jones* Thornley, Ross (s), 11. - The Indoor Bowling Badges were played for on Saturday afternoon* ■Lawrie's. rink being too good for the challengers. The holders were Bryce, Mason, Ricketts, and Lawrie (s),. and the challengers Recce, Parsons, Edwards, and Hart (s). The final score was 32-17.
Results of friendly games are:— Tonks, Inglis, Sands, Raven (s), 23; Coburn, Bilderbeck, Duncan, Castle (s), 16. Hamilton, Warner, O'Gormah, Burns (s), 27; Christenson, Black, Uliher, Dayman (s),- 17. Fownes, Whitelaw, Phillipps,: Warwick (s), 25; Hansen, Moult, Rodger, johnstone (s), 16.
■ Several games were played by the "Evening Post" Indoor Bowling Club. The Stars changed hands and the Len Blundell Buttons were retained by the holders in well-contested games.
