THE 'QUAKE AT QUETTA

VOLCANO IN ERUPTION

ANOTHER SHOCK REPORTED

3000 BODIES CREMATED

United I'rcss Associatioa—By Electric Tele' ' graph—Copyright. (Received June 3, 10.30 a.m.)

CALCUTTA, June 2,

Further minor earthquake shocks occurred on Friday, and a volcano is in eruption near Shahriga, a 3400 feet peak on the Baroza Range, 40 miles east of Quetta. Yesterday smoke and lava were still issuing from it. Rescue efforts were impeded by a 60-mile gale and sandstorms which are said to be an aftermath of the earthquake. It is now confirmed that the R.A.F. quarters and the native city bore the brunt of the shock, but the military quarters, where many thousands of British and Indian soldiers were quartered, escaped. The soldiers are now doing rescue work.
