PLEASURE CRUISE

A NAUTICAL BALL

EASTBOURNE PLUNKET i

On Saturday evening in the Pavilion, Day's Bay, everyone was on deck for the Eastbourne Plunket Society's Nautical Ball. The hall was transformed into a mighty ship that carried hundreds of dancers on a pleasure cruise. At the helm was a first-class orchestra rendering delightful music, which made the cruise thoroughly enjoyable for all the passengers. The committee is to be congratulated on the splendid manner in which it carried out the nautical theme, with the stage as a ship's bridge, with port and starboard lights, and a gangway forming an entrance to the hall. Father Neptune caused lots of amusement. A delicious home-made supper was served buffet style.

The committee responsible for the success of this pleasant dance was Mesdames F. Mather (patroness), Wise, president (black orchid and floral satin), Girdlestone (sapphire . windswept satin and silver lame), Phillips, treasurer (scarlet crepe arid flowered coatee), D. crepe), F. Mansfield (coral georgette), O'Connor (flame satin),. Andrews (green matalasse), Withell (white georgette), Dick (black georgette), Hogg (black satin), Pilcher (prune georgette, cream lace sleeves), Osborne (red and white georgette), Walling (wine lace), Greenwood (grey crepe de chine), Thornton (black panne velvet, with diamond trimming), Mcc (black lace),, McMinn, Fagan, Berry, Torlesse, Hopkirk, McCallum, Misses Isaacs (black lace), Stace (black satin and lace), Jenkins (black crepe and brilliants).

Nash wishing the society every success. The sale of nautical paper capsmade by the ladies of Eastbourne and sold by three little boys, and one little girl, dressed in sailor costumes, as well as adding enjoyment, to the evening, helped considerably the financial success of the ball.
