FROZEN MEAT
LAMB PRICES EASIER
The market for frozen lamb in London is firm, but quiet at higher prices, according to the weekly cable received by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. Consumption continues to be good. Wether and ewe mutton is steady but trade is slow. The beef market is quiet owing to a reduction in the prices of Argentine chilled beet. Trade in New Zealand porker pigs is slow, with prices easier. The market for baconers is quiet and unchanged. The approximate average wholesale prices for the week, with those for the previous week in parentheses, are:— New Zealand sheep.—Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 48-56 4 l-8d a lb (4 l-8d), 57-64 3 7-8 d (33d), 65-72 3 5-8 d(3 5-8 d); North Island, 48-56 4 l-8d (4 l-8d), 57-64 3Jd (3Jd), 65-72 3 5-8 d (3 5-8 d): ewes, 481b and under 3Jd (3£d), 48-64 2 7-8 d(2 7-8 d), 65-72 2 5-8 d (2 5-8 d).
