MAIL VAN ROBBERY

£5000 IN GOLD MISSING

ADELAIDE, May 30.

Bullion worth £5000 consigned from the goldfields in Central Australia is reported to be missing from the mail van of the Alice Springs-Quorn train.

A fortnight ago GOOoz of gold was conveyed from Tennants Creek under police escort to the railhead at Alice Springs. Upon the arrival of the train at Quorn in the early morning the bullion was missing, together with the tnailbag in which it was carried.
