. SYDNEY, This Day. Merv. Blandon (Bst lljlb) defeated Joe Hall (9st), holder, in a bout for the Australian featherweight boxing championship at the Leichhardt Stadium.
Merv.' ("Darkie") Blandon's successes as a bantam in Australia, where he defeated the Filipinos, ."Speedy" Dado, "Star" Frisco, and the American Claud Varner, caused' him to be ranked second to the world's champion, Al. Brown, by "The Ring" in its ranking list for the year. He has since outgrown the bantam class.
