A well-bred mare to make her race debut recently among' the hacks at Wanganui and who is due to have her second race among the maidens at Levin on Saturday is The Image, and it is possible that she will be showing some improvement in her efforts before long. She was. never prominent at Wanganui, but is likely to have benefited with that experience. The Image is a four-year-old brown daughter of the Australian sire Spearhead (a son of Spearmint) from the English-bred mare After Glow 11, whom Mr. J. Donald imported from Australia for his stud at Westmere, and she is thus no other than a fullsister to The Dimmer, a winner of the Sydney Cup, Perth Cup, and several w.f.a. races at Randwick, and a halfsister to Epilogue, winner of the V.R.C. St. Leger. After Glow 11, who has been difficult to get in foal here, is by Sunstar from Marie Legraye, by Diamond Jubilee, Marie Legraye being also grandam of the New Zealand sprinter and sire Songbird.
