WEDDINGS

THOM—GIBSON,

A charming wedding was held last evening at St. Mark's Church, Dufferin Street, when the marriage was solemnised of Joyce Muriel, only daughter of Captain and Mrs. A. S. Gibson, Seatoun, and Donald Keith, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Thorn, of Wellington. The Rev. V. Venimore was the officiating minister, and Mr. Wat> kins was at the organ. The bride,, who entered the church with her father, wore a beautiful gown of heavy ivory satin, cut on classic lines, the corsage buttoned at the back with satin buttons and the wide sleeves attached to the cowl neckline with tiny mother-of-pearl lilies. The fitting skirt formed a graceful train. The veil, worn over the face was of edged tulle and held in place by a coronet of mother-of-pearl orange blossom. She carried an arm sheaf of white roses, begonias, and maidenhair fern. The bride, was attended by four bridesmaids, Misses Ida Morrah, Betty Lewis, Margaret Thorn (sister of the bridegroom),, and Sybil Macindoe. Their frocks were of turquoise blue silk net over taffeta, the full skirts being edged with blue lace leaves apphqued with silver thread, the godets forming short trains. The cowl bodices had slit sleeves and were finished with silver sashes. They wore pink head sprays of natural flowers and carried beautiful fans of pink flowers lined with turquoise and edged with deen maidenhair fern. The best man was Mr. Alan De Costa and the groomsman Mr. George Hamilton. Mr: J. Thorn and Mr. J. Gibson were ushers. During the service a solo was sung by Miss Phyllis Martin. j"« A reception was held afterwards at the Maple Room, Lambton Quay where the guests were received by Mrs. Gibson, who wore midnight blue ring velvet, with gold lame and r, matching hat and carrying a bourj" i of golden carnations. She was''as-' sisted by the bridegroom's mother in a wine lace frock with hat to tone and carrying a bouquet of cyclamen and roses. ■ .- When the bride and bridegroom left later, the bride was wearing a smart lido blue ensemble trimmed with grey fur, with grey accessories and a matching hat.
