POSTPONED POLL

AN UNUSUAL POSITION | I I

- — (Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. The amendment to the Local Elections and Polls Act last session lias created a rather unusual position as far as the Manawatu Drainage Board is concerned. The object of the Act is to synchronise local body elections. The Manawatu Drainage Board was due to go out of office next November, but now there -will be no election till May, 1938, by which time the sitting members will have served for five and a half years. The information has been received both with amusement and concern. "They might, as we)! make us life members," was one member's comment, while another pointed out that he would be over seventy yearu of ago by then.
