Wltcoinba and Caldwell Cvu—August IT. INTER-CLUB MATCHES. .J<o advice has as yet been received from the inter-club schedule committee as to the draw for the opening rounds next week. It Is anticipated that clubs will be individually advised as soon a3 It becomes available. There are sis entries, for A grade, four for Intermediate, 15 B, and 14 C, necessitating the splitting into two sections of each of the two latter grades.. .'WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIPS. The programme for the Wellington championship meeting on June 3 has been compiled and will be issued to clubs in the near future. Several Innovations have been made this year. The permission to use telescopes for spotting will no doubt be welcomed by many. This year, the programme caters for every class of small-bore rifle shot In Wellington. There will be the usual three matches and aggregate in the A and B grades, and the C grade has been extended to Include three matches. The ladies' match has been re-estab-lished. There are optional aggregates for each grade and the ladles, and team matches for each grade have been established. It has been customary In the past only to have one team match, that for the A grade. The greatest Innovation is a system of proportional distribution of the prize-money. In the A grade all 98's and over will participate; In the B grade all Si's and orer; in the C grade all 9a's and over; In the ladles' match all 96's and over. This has been accomplished by V system of valuation of the scores, and by allocation of the total prize-money for the Brado not to tho individual matches but to the total number of scores which have reached tho minimum for. the grade. To take an example say In tha A grade, the prize list, which is based on 30 entries at 12s (including the aggregate) allows £14 total prize-money for the, three matches. Assuming that in the course of' the meeting five possibles are registered, eighteen 99's, and twelve 88's, the basis of valuation- of the scores has . been assessed as 6:3:1. giving a possible six times the- amount payable Ho a 98. Thus the allocation would pc: 100's (5 X 6) 30 plus ,99's (18 x 3) 54 plus 98's (12 x 1) 12 equals 96. A 98 .would receive one-ninety-sixth of £14, 2s lid, or. approximately the entry fee of 3s. The 99's would get 8s 9d each and tiie 100's 17s 6d each. The allocation is much fairer than by the "count-back" or other, systems that havo been In force. The basis of valuation for the other grades .is: B 6:3:2:1, C 8:4:3:2:1. The ladies' is the same as the B. It is possible for a score, or 99 in the C grade to obtain a higher prize than a 100 would in the A grade, as witness:—Total prize-money based on 30 entries at 2s a' match,- £9. Assuming scores of two 99's, two 98's, three 97's, seven 96's, and thirteen 9a's, the 99's would receive £1 4s each and the OS's Is 6d each. The officials appointed for the meeting other than those holding offices for the year are:— Scrutineers; G. Boddy.'n. Xlckless,'H. R. Hunt P. Kershaw; range officers, J. E. Pitt, L. Cooze; scorers,' P. -tv, Costello, B. G. Murphy; target stewards. P., Stewart, T. McNab; Press steward)..B; : O, Murphy; assistant secretary, A. V, G,. Wilson. Entiles close with the secretary on. Jupe .1. A late entry fee of 6d will be imposed on entries received after that date. OSMOND SHIELD. The scores of the Municipal Club, which are now to hand, do not affect the result of the Osmond Shield match. Aotea are ths winners ■with 686.
