STOLEN BEARINGS
(By Telegraph—Tress Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. Keith Elford Craig was found guilty in the Supreme Court of the theft at Linton of bronze bearings valued at £20. The trial commenced a week ago, but on the accused pleading that he was unable to get witnesses in time his Honour discharged the jury and ordered a fresh trial, adding that he would take steps to have the wit-1 ! nesses the accused" needed brought to Palmerston North. This was done. Craig was remanded for sentence. The accused was. then arraigned on a charge of obtaining scrap metal by false pretences at Feilding, but his Honour directed the jury to return a verdict of not guilty before the Crown case was completed. On the evidence, his Honour stated, it was plain that the metal was weighed and ready for delivery before the accused mentioned the representations.
