NEW CHURCH IN CITY
BUILDING IN BOULCOTT STREET A notable addition to the churches of the city will be made shortly, as it is intended to erect a new building for the Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boulcott Street. , The property, known for many years as Spiller's Hall, has been in the possession of the church for some time, and the acquisition of an adjoining residential property has made possible the erection of the building. The total frontage to Boulcott Street is 53 feet Of this, 43 feet will be occupied by the church. The building will be novel in interior decoration and design- From the main foyer which will be spacious and well-lit, a flight of eight steps will lead to the auditorium. The visitor will emerge into the centre of the halL Tiers of seats, forming a kind of gallery, will rise back to the Boulcott Street frontage, and the floor will slope slightly towards the reader's desk. The auditorium will seat about 480 people, and it will be 68 feet in length, occupying the whole length of the building. Jnderneath the auditorium will be the Sunday schoolroom, measuring 54ft by 44ft, and at the eastern end of the church will" be two readers' rooms and" a board room. A pipe organ will be installed at a later date. The church will be built in reinforced concrete, and will be heated by a special method employing hot air. The architect is Mr. N. B. Lightbodyj of Wellington.
