KING'S SURPRISE VISIT MEN JUMP ON FOOTBOARDS! THEIR MAJESTIES STARTLED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received May 13* noon.) ; LONDON, May A l2. Tremendous enthusiasm attended the surprise visit to the East End of London by the King and Queen and Princess Elizabeth, who were accompanied by two police cars and a wireless van. The people ran cheering beside the Royal car and a self-appointed escort 6f cars and cyclists fell in behind. Their Majesties' drove through Chinatown, Dockland, Poplar, and Limehouse Causeway, where no street, however narrow, and no house, however humble, lacked decorations. The Chinese leaped to their feet and N cheered, and the Lascars at the West India and East India Docks salaamed. Elsewhere the crowds almost .brought their Majesties' car to a .standstill, and men jumped on the Tootboards wildly acclaiming the King and Queen.. Their Majesties were startled, almost awed, by the vigour of the greetings. The enthusiasm was Tenewed ' in the Jewish quarter. Their Majesties were given an ovation by a huge crowd when they returned to Buckingham Palace. QUEEN CAVE HER A SMILE (Received May 13, 12.30 pjn.) " LONDON, May 12.'
