KILBIRNIE SCHOOL
ENJOYABLE DANCE
The infant hall or, the Kilbirnie School was filled with a merry throng of dancers on Saturday night, when the Home and School Association held the first of- their fortnightly series of dances. The hall was gaily decorated with orange and green streamers, large square shades of orange being suspended from the ceiling, while the windows were draped with quaint green taffeta curtains. The president (Mr. G. Austin Blackie) welcomed all those present and hoped the season would prove a profitable one and swell the funds of the association, all of which are devoted to school purposes. The floor was in excellent order, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed ; the programme of dancing and music.' • : • ; Both modern and old-time dancing was the order of the evening, the military .two-step and old-time waltz being very popular. Prizes, were, awarded to the winners of the Monte Carlo and the hidden number. Balloons and novelties were distributed' throughout the ieyening. '■ . Miss Phyllis. Oliver, gave, two clever demonstrations of the tap waltz, and was heartily applauded. The' committee responsible for the success of .the evening includes Mesdames G. Taplin (wine crepe and lace), Kitching (black and white georgette), McQune (scarlet satin), Jeffs (brown and white figured marocain), Brown (grey matalasse), Blackie (black velvet and taffeta ruchings), Messrs. E. Smith (hon. secretary), Sherwood, Fairbrother, and Pringle. : Ex-pupils are reminded of these fortnightly gatherings, and to support their old school.
