DAVIS CUP TENNIS
PROSPECTS FOR TODAY
CLEAN SWEEP PREDICTED '
(Received May 11, 1 pan.)
LONDON, May 10. Mr. H. Hopman; rthe, "Sun-Herald's" representative, -■ confidently predicts a clean sweep for Australia in the Davis Cup elimination match against New Zealand, which is to commence at Eastbourne tomorrow, basing his forecast not only on their, great reputation, but also on the fact that-in their, practices they revealed considerably greater strength. : :
Andrews,- the best New Zealander since the war, is now waning. Stedman has improved, and has a fast, consistent forehand and a fiat, fast service, but is guileless and with no variety. His backhand is definitely weak. ■• ■ : ■;*■■:. T
Both Crawford and McGrath should win all their singles without trouble and without losing a set, unless they relax on the last day.
Stedman and Malfroy have the greatest1 chance'in the doubles, in which both have improved! — ■'■;.■ ' ; ' ityew Zealand^^rlme Minister: (the Rt. Hopi, G. W. F^besKjWlid'is a'-week-end guest of Lord''MoyneV'.telegraphed the New-Zealand tehnis\players as follows: "New Zealand wishes you best of- luck in, your? Davis Cup< match against the Australians.
