DEPARTURE FOR AUCKLAND
General. Evangeline Booth, ■ world leader of the Salvation Army, left last night for' Auckland. She was given an enthusiastic farewell at Thorndon Station by a,large gathering ;of Salvationists and members of "the general public. Hymns were sung, and ;the -Army band: played- severalnumbers. : •■
Before -boarding the 'train General Booth, 'expressed thanks for the reception'accorded,her.- She said she would never be'able to forget the campaigns and gatherings in New -Zealand. The campaigns in Wellington.had brought the- people's ..hearts- nearer together, and'-she would always be filled with memories of the sweetest nature of her visft^j'HieCSalyatibn'ArriyVwas.going to coritinue=to -go. forward. 'A* presentation* o:f a conductor's baton was' made:«:by the General to Major Hi Gofflni who conducted the Salvation Army Bands during her stay in Wellington.' During the recent congress the General pickeid up a baton,and when told-it-was Major Gofßn's,' she'said he would have a'better one before-she left Wellington.
