EXHIBITION SITE

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—There is, as yet, no suggestion for an exhibition site but such as requires a considerable outlay in both labour and money. I wish to suggest a really good and, for the most part, level spot, sheltered from the prevailing northerly winds and with a splendid natural "glen" (as it is locally known). It is situated at the north end of Darlington Road, Miramar. There are a number of acres with, at the head of the valley, an old dam, which, with a little repair and some excavation, could be converted into an ideal swimming pool with a natural grandstand. This is in the reserve belonging to, and recently planted by, the Wellington City Council. There is a small lagoon at the entrance to the property which with deepening would provide the usual exhibiti.on lake. The site has two approaches, from Darlington 'Road and from Weka Street. Extension of the existing tramlines some two or three hundred yards would be all that was needed. The marine views obtainable from the. hilltops, some five minutes' walk, comprise the most comprehensive about Wellington-—from Evans Bay, Hutt Valley, Eastbourne to Pencarrow, and Cook Strait, and would charm the most critical visitor. I trust the authorities will inspect the site in the near future.—l am, etc.,
