COLD AND CLOUDY

Special forecast for Wellington:—

Strong south-easterly winds. Weather cold and cloudy with intermittent rain.

The general weather forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for moderate to strong south to south-easterly wilids reaching gale force at times about Cook Strait. The weather is likely to be fine in the western districts of the South Island but unsettled elsewhere with rain on the east coast of the North Island and in scattered places. Temperatures cold. The fair to fine weather of yesterday has given place to cold, cloudy, and showery conditions.. Winds have turned to southerly in many parts and are freshening somewhat. A depression crossed the: Dominion last night, and is likely to remain off the east coast while the front of an anticyclone has advanced on to southern districts. It was a clear, fair to cloudy day in Auckland yesterday, a south-west-erly breeze prevailing. This morning the weather was calm and fine. Wellington had fair, mild weather with a light northerly wind yesterday but early this morning the wind turned to southerly, and cold, showery conditions have since set in. One point of rain was registered up to 9 a.m. In Christchurch yesterday, the weather was dull with a light north-west-erly breeze. The evening was clear but after midnight the sky clouded over and early this morning a cold south-west wind came up. Dunedin had fine sunny weather with a light northerly wind which changed to southerly yesterday afternoon, Uhd since last night the weather has been cold and showery.
