MODEL OF QUEEN MARY

At present the best means of obtaining something like an adequate impression of the Queen Mary as she will appear when completed is by inspection of an interesting miniature of the ship which has been built by Messrs. John Brown and Co., and which will shortly be shown to the public, states "The Syren and Shipping Illustrated." This model, which shows in striking fashion the form and shape

of the liner and the great spaciousness of the decks, has been built to scale, and is 21ft in length by 21ft beam by 4ft lOin height and of 16cwt in weight. The model is to be fitted into a steel-lined glass case, 24ft in length, sft high, and 4ft in width, the case and base wenghing 1 ton 15cwt. Owing to its unusual size and weight special arrangements have been made for its transportation up and down the country, and ior that purpose an outer case and 2-ton steel trailer have been designed and constructed. During long railway journeys the model and trailer will be hoisted on to a railway truck, and on arrival at its terminus the trailer will be lifted from the truck and towed by road to the place of .exhibition.
