Keith. Elford Craig a scrap metal buyer, was charged _in the Magistrate's Court ■with _ obtaining scrap - metal valued at £1 4s from Robert Lietli, at Carterton, by falsely representing that he was acting for the Wellington firm of Brown and Dureau. After evidence had been given by Leith and by Frederick McDonald, on behalf of Brown and Duroaii, the case was adjourned until Monday to allow Craig to obtain three witnesses in his defence. He was also charged with stealing metal bearings, valued at £20, from an engine at Linton, the property of George Craw. On this charge he was remanded ,tp. . appear...at Palmerston North on May 1. Craig pleaded j not guilty to both, charges.
