JUBILEE RELIEF

As has been .mentioned previously, th« Unemployment Board has decided in addition to granting payment .without work to men on relief on Monday,. May 8, to allow a bonus amounting to halt of the usual -weekly wages in the^ case of matlied men receiving not more than £2 10s ; a week, and single men receiving not more than £1 17s 6d a week: These payments will be made for the week-ending May 4, and will be in respect to men eligible for the week ending April 27. This will give the board's officers time to . make' up the payments. •Vs the result of representations made by a. deputation of 200 relief worker* to the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), the Mayor's Belief Fund'is making a grant of £000. All relief depots in the city and suburbs, which have oeen closed down have again boon opened. It was stated by the deputation to the Mayor that the plight of many relief workers wa» most serious.
